Chimney fire damages La Crescenta townhome
Investigators with the Glendale Fire Department are looking into what caused a La Crescenta townhome to catch fire on Tuesday morning.
Gardeners working in the area first noticed smoke and fire coming from the chimney of a home at 56 Northwoods Lane sometime before 10:40 a.m.
Residents of the home were able to safely evacuate after being alerted by the workers.
Anita Shandi, a fire department spokeswoman, said firefighters arrived within five minutes of being alerted of the blaze and were able to contain its spread to the home and a neighboring unit.
Fire crews from the Burbank and Los Angeles County fire departments also helped with the incident.
The fire was extinguished before 12:20 p.m., and no injuries were reported.
