Other victims sought after Glendale caregiver allegedly steals $100K from senior
A former caregiver has been accused of fleecing approximately $100,000 from a senior resident in La Cañada Flintridge, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is looking for any additional people she may have victimized.
Sheila Paguirigan Solis, a 42-year-old living in Glendale, was arrested last Tuesday after county prosecutors charged her with two felony counts including grand theft from an elder and burglary. Solis allegedly stole as much as $100,000 from a senior she worked for as a caregiver, according to a statement from the department’s Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The alleged thefts happened between April 2015 and August 2016 with authorities saying that Solis would use cash withdrawals and banks checks issued from the senior’s account to steal the money.
Solis’ actions were discovered by the senior’s family and she was reported to police, authorities said. It was then discovered that Solis had been previously convicted for financial elder abuse and did not disclose the conviction when she began working in La Cañada Flintridge.
It’s unknown if she went on to work as a caregiver elsewhere after being fired by the senior’s family. Solis is known by at least two other aliases, according to the sheriff’s station, Sheila May Herbito and Sheila May Paguirigan.
She is currently being held on $50,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29.
