Local first responders remember the fallen on 9/11

Firefighters and police officials across the region on Tuesday marked the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people.

Fire Station 21 in Glendale held a flag ceremony in honor of the people, including the first responders, who perished in the attacks. It was a scene that played out in cities across the Southland, including Burbank and Pasadena.

It’s become an annual tradition for firefighters across the nation, whose counterparts in New York suffered heavy casualities during the initial response to the attacks, and subsequent collapse of the Word Trade Center towers.

In Glendale, firefighters and police officials read some of the names of those who died in the attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon.
