Glendale police identify alleged DUI driver who struck, injured child
Glendale Police on Friday identified the motorist who struck and seriously injured a 13-year-old boy on Verdugo Road Thursday afternoon.
Glendale resident Ruben Babayan, 22, struck the boy as he reportedly ran west onto the street chasing a tennis ball shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The teen did not suffer internal or brain injuries, but was still recovering from a broken pelvis, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said Friday.
“Doctors say he will be fine,” Lorenz said.
Babayan, who remained at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana.
