Glendale Unified to reschedule meetings to discuss changes to school calendar

Share

In their efforts to seek parents’ input about Glendale Unified’s instructional calendar, Glendale school officials had originally planned to hold three meetings beginning Jan. 11. However, they postponed the meetings this week, and will announce new dates sometime after school resumes from winter break on Jan. 7.

School officials are creating a new instructional calendar for the 2017-18 school year, following concerns raised by parents that the current school year began too early on Aug. 10, and the 2016-17 calendar is also too early, beginning on Aug. 8.

School board members opted to postpone the meetings so they could better communicate the announcement of them with parents after winter break ends and school is back in session, said Maria Gandera, assistant superintendent of Glendale Unified.
