Man suspected of two Glendale burglary incidents arrested

A 29-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after witnesses reportedly saw him breaking into two dwellings and then enter his neighboring apartment, police said.

Sarkis Vardanyan was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary after a witness saw him gripping a metal object and standing near an apartment window in the 300 block of North Cedar Street, according to Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

He was later seen exiting the apartment complex and then entering a neighboring building, where police said he apparently lived, Lightfoot said.

Hours earlier, a witness reportedly heard glass breaking and saw a man entering a home about 6 p.m. in the 100 block of Franklin Court, she said.

The resident returned home and noticed electronic devices had been stolen.

After Vardanyan was arrested, police realized he matched the description of the man in the earlier incident.
