Local residents who are federal employees and were furloughed during the government shutdown are getting a helping hand from the local Salvation Army and Glendale Water & Power.

The Salvation Army of Glendale, located at 320 W. Windsor Road, holds its Our People’s Choice Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Food donations can be made during those times. For more information, call (818) 246-5586.

Also, Glendale Water & Power will assist its impacted customers who were furloughed federal employees with a payment deferment plan.

The plan offers customers who experience temporary hardships to defer payments on a temporary basis with no late fees.

For more information, call the Glendale utility’s customer service department at (855) 550-4497 or visit GWPCustomerservice@Glendaleca.gov.
