Firefighters from Glendale and Los Angeles were able to contain a series of small brush fires that broke out along a freeway transition road Monday afternoon.

Authorities responded to four fires that broke out near the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway and northbound Glendale (2) Freeway around 3:45 p.m. Crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to three of the fires, while the Glendale Fire Department dealt with the fourth.

Anita Shandi, a spokeswoman with Glendale fire, said the small blazes were less than a quarter mile away from each other. All were fully contained by 5:30 p.m.

It’s unknown what caused the fires, according to Shandi.
