A 36-year-old man was arrested last week after a seven-month investigation that led police to find 2 pounds of a “very rare” type of heroin, 1.5 pounds each of methamphetamine and marijuana, three handguns and an assault rifle in his Los Angeles home, authorities said.
Glendale police opened an investigation last September after receiving an anonymous tip about a residence in northwest Glendale where drug users were congregating to use and distribute drugs, according to Glendale Police Sgt. Robert William.
While conducting surveillance, detectives identified a person and vehicle believed to be associated with the drug distribution, William said.
The man, identified as Juan Osegueda, was allegedly distributing “China White” heroin, which has similar side effects to black-tar heroin and just recently emerged in Glendale, to “numerous” drug users in the city and surrounding area, William said.
At some point during the investigation, Osegueda moved from Glendale to East Los Angeles, William said. Glendale police served a search warrant at his Los Angeles home last Wednesday, during which they found the narcotics.
Osegueda, who according to court records has previous drug- and weapon-related convictions, was arrested on suspicion of selling heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana, transporting heroin, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a controlled substance while armed and selling narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school, William said.
He was released after posting $30,000 bail, according to Los Angeles County jail records.
