Parolee arrested after chase, helicopter search in Glendale

Two men were arrested this week after one allegedly resisted arrest, prompting a helicopter search, and the other possessed burglary tools, according to police.

At 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, an officer observed a silver Toyota Tundra with tinted windows and a paper license plate near the intersection of Dryden and Isabel streets, said Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

When the officer made a U-turn to follow the car, the Toyota accelerated. After catching up to it and conducting a traffic stop, a 19-year-old at-large parolee identified as Francisco Tafolla allegedly exited the front passenger seat and ran.

Glendale police searched for Tafolla with assistance from the K-9 unit and a police helicopter overhead while detaining the car’s driver and another passenger.

A resident then called the police to report that Tafolla was hiding on his apartment balcony in the 400 block of East Dryden Street, and he was arrested for resisting arrest.

A search of the car turned up bolt cutters and gloves. Police identified the rear passenger as Clyde Miles Frankton, 34, of Rosemead, who was arrested for previous warrants and for possessing burglary tools.

The third man was released at the scene and could not be connected to any crime, Lightfoot said.
