Glendale police arrest transient after discovering he’s an unregistered sex offender

A transient was arrested early Saturday morning after Glendale police discovered he was an unregistered sex offender.

Eric Smith, 50, was contacted by police near Glenoaks Boulevard and Allen Avenue at around 2 a.m. They discovered that he was in violation of his terms as a sex offender because he did not register.

While he was searched, police found Smith was in possession of a white crystal substance similar to methamphetamine.

He was booked for failure to register as a sex offender and on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance.
