A Glendale teen was killed Monday evening in a motorcycle collision on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Pacoima, officials said.

The 16-year-old motorcyclist, identified by coroner’s officials as Eric Sarokhanian, was straddling two lanes at 70 mph when, for unknown reasons, his motorcycle rolled over and collided with a sedan, said acting Sgt. Cheyenne Quesada of the California Highway Patrol.

He was reportedly ejected from his bike and into another freeway lane, where he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Just after 6:30 p.m., authorities were dispatched to the scene, the northbound 5 Freeway near Van Nuys Boulevard, where the teen was pronounced dead, Quesada said. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were not injured.

A Sigalert was issued during the investigation, which left three lanes closed until around 9:40 p.m., Quesada said. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, he added.
