An off-duty Glendale police officer was arrested this week after allegedly fighting, while drunk, two Burbank police officers responding to a disturbance call at Barney’s Beanery, according to multiple sources.

Just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, Burbank police officers responded to the downtown Burbank restaurant, where Cameron Sanchez, 36, was reportedly standing on the sidewalk, unable to care for himself, said Burbank Police Officer Claudio Losacco.

During his arrest, a fight ensued, leaving the Burbank officers with scrapes and scratches.

Sanchez was booked on suspicion of battery on a peace officer and being drunk in public. He was cited and is due in court next month.

In a statement, Glendale Police Chief Robert Castro said the officer, who he did not name, was placed on leave pending an investigation into the assault.

“We are taking this case very seriously and assisting the Burbank Police Department with their investigation upon request,” he wrote in the statement.

The president of Glendale Police Officer’s Assn. declined to comment on the incident.
