Police seek man suspected of stealing checks in Burbank, withdrawing victim’s money from Glendale bank

Police on Wednesday released surveillance photos of a man suspected of using checks stolen from a Burbank mailbox to withdraw $1,900 from the victim’s account at a bank in Glendale, police said.

In July, a Burbank resident reportedly mailed out checks that never made it to their intended recipients, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

Three weeks later, on Aug. 3, the man in the photos allegedly attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s account from a bank in El Segundo using fake identification, she said.

He reportedly tried again unsuccessfully five days later at a Los Angeles bank, the same day he succeeded in withdrawing $1,900 from the victim’s account at a Chase bank branch in Glendale.

The man was described as black, in his mid- to late-50s, roughly 6 feet 1 with a medium build and goatee.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Glendale police at (818) 548-4911.
