District schools salute Founders Day

Toll Middle School

There will be a presentation by Clark Magnet for eighth-graders from 8:15 to 9 a.m. Thursday. The Toll PTA’s executive board meeting is at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in room 1202. The Eighth Grade Awards Breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 16 in the cafeteria. And the Sixth Grade Awards Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 23 in the cafeteria. There will be a PTA meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the auditorium.

Balboa Elementary

Thank you to everyone who donated to the toy drive and to Rania Jurdi for organizing this event.

The sixth-graders have begun their See’s Valentine Candy Sale and will sell Valentine Grams to raise funds for sixth-grade activities. Thanks to Anjik Minaeian and Lisa Deyell for organizing these fundraisers. The Balboa Founders Day celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the auditorium. The Balboa PTA and American Heart Assn. are staging a “Jump for Heart” event from 8:15 to 10 a.m. Feb. 18, on the playground.

Franklin Elementary

Tickets are sold out for Franklin’s Father Daughter Dance from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 11.

Everyone is invited to attend the upcoming PTA meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8, in the auditorium. The Safe Routes to Schools program will be discussed as well as traffic around Franklin. If you live near the school, or have traffic solution ideas, please attend.

Jefferson Elementary

Please support Jefferson by sponsoring students in the upcoming school fundraiser, the Jog-A-Thon, from 8:30 a.m. until noon Thursday. There will be an executive PTA Board meeting at 4 p.m. Feb. 17. Volunteers will be lauded for their hard work on Founders Day at 3 p.m.Feb. 23 in the auditorium.

Mark Keppel Elementary

Mark Keppel features its Arts Showcase, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, in the cafeteria. Founder’s Day is Feb. 18 and the PTA theme is “Volunteers Rock.” The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Mark Keppel Cafeteria. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the front office. Keppel’s Cookie Dough Fundraiser begins near the end of February.
