Two people were airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries Wednesday after a van rolled over and collided with their car in La Crescenta, officials said.

At 3:39 p.m., police and fire officials responded to Foothill Boulevard and New York Avenue, where the two vehicles had collided, said Glendale Fire spokeswoman Brandy Villanueva.

A man and a woman in one car were airlifted to the hospital, while the driver of the van that rolled over was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Foothill Boulevard was closed to traffic between Lauderdale and Pennsylvania avenues, and New York Avenue was closed between Mary Ann Street and Foothill, Villanueva said.

Glendale police were investigating the cause of the collision.
