Traffic stop leads to arrest of two men with bags of marijuana, cash

Two Glendale men were arrested Saturday after police discovered 37 small bags of marijuana in their car during a traffic stop, police said.

The driver, identified as Michael Artuni, 20, was stopped at Mountain Street and Greenbriar Road after reportedly failing to stop at a stop sign, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

Officers questioned him, along with passenger Kousha Baraei, 20, after smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle and noticing a “large number” of bills on the rear floorboard of the car, Lightfoot said.

A consent search of the car reportedly revealed more than $500 in cash, many small plastic bags that were empty, an extra cellphone and 37 individually packaged bags of marijuana, Lightfoot said.

The men were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
