Victim zip-tied in armed home invasion robbery in Glendale hills, two arrested

Armed robbers posing as utility workers forced their way into a Glendale hillside home early Friday morning and zip-tied the resident’s hands and feet before fleeing with cash, police said.

Three men wearing reflective yellow vests approached the Maginn Drive home, and through the window, a suspect with a clipboard told the resident they needed his signature to work in the area, according to Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

When the victim opened the door, the suspects pushed him to the ground and zip-tied his hands and feet.

One suspect held the resident at gunpoint while the two others searched the home, stealing cash before fleeing in a black sedan. A witness called police shortly after 7 a.m. after seeing the trio leave the home.

Soon after, an officer spotted a black Lexus with paper plates near the Ventura (134) Freeway, with three men inside. The driver failed to stop at Pacific Avenue and Burchett Street, leading the officer on a short pursuit before the car was lost near Zoo Drive.

Investigators subsequently set up a perimeter at the Autry Museum, where officers caught two suspects, who were not identified, trying to run.

They were arrested in connection with the home invasion robbery after police reportedly found evidence tying them to incident.

Officers have since taken down the perimeter, though a third suspect — described as a Hispanic man with short hair — remains at large.

Paramedics treated the victim for minor injuries to his face.
