BEST BET: The “Winter Wonderland Festival of Trees” previews from 3 to

5 p.m. on Sunday at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center, 1509 Wilson

Terrace. This fund-raising event for underprivileged children will

feature ten professionally decorated Christmas trees. A drawing to win

one of the trees will be held. This free celebration will feature

entertainment and refreshments. A book of five tickets for the drawing is

The Montrose-Verdugo Chamber of Commerce will hold its Holiday Walk

Mixer from 6 to 8 p.m. along Honolulu Avenue in Montrose. Check in at

White’s Art Store & Gallery at 2430 Honolulu Ave. Bring a $10 unwrapped

toy and receive a free raffle ticket. Each toy will be donated to the

Crescenta Valley Briggs Sheriff’s Station. Refreshments will be served.

Donations are $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers.

The Verdugo Hills Art Assn. will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m.

in the Community Room of California Federal Bank, 2350 Honolulu Ave. in

Montrose. Guest artist Karl Dempwolf will give a slide show on the

history of Early California Plein Air Impressionists. Admission is $2.

Glendale Community College will host the “Faculty/Alumni Dance

Performance 99” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday at

The Jazz Ensemble of Hoover High School will perform at 7 p.m. at

Hoover High Auditorium, 651 Glenwood Road. Six groups will perform,

including the Studio Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Band. The Period Six

Jazz Combo will showcase music from the Brian Setzer Orchestra and The

The Greater Los Angeles Woodworking Show runs from noon to 7 p.m.

today; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday; and 10 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The

show will be at buildings 5 and 8 at the Fairplex at White & McKinley

avenues in Pomona. Several area woodworking clubs will be represented,

including the Glendale Woodturners, who will feature everything from

napkin holders to furniture. Eight special woodworking seminars will be

held. The cost of each 3-hour seminar is $55 and advanced registration is

The 23rd Annual Montrose Christmas Parade rolls at 6:30 p.m. on

Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. The parade will include marching bands from

middle, junior and senior high schools, equestrian units, celebrities and

The Kids 4 Kids Toy Drive ’99 will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at the

Glendale Galleria. Arjay Smith from the Nickelodeon show “The Journey of

Allen Strange” hosts the event, which will benefit Childhelp USA. The

toys and gifts collected at the Galleria will be donated to the Village

of Childhelp West, a residential treatment center for abused children.

Monique Clark from “The Hughleys,” Kyle Gibson from “Get Real” and Vernee

The Glendale Community College Singers will entertain symphony patrons

Directed by Dr. Peter Green, the singers will perform traditional holiday

“Heavenly Music,” the first concert of the Glendale Symphony

Orchestra’s “Music for the Millennium” series, will be held at 8 p.m. at

The Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd. The program includes Handel’s

Sinfonia from “Messiah,” Mozart’s “Concerto for Flute and Harp” and

Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 3.” Sheridon Stokes and Marcia Dickstein will
