Damon’s co-owner dies

Donna F. Damon, co-owner of the popular Damon’s Steak House, has died.
She was 76.
She died in her sleep in Glendale on Jan. 20. The cause of death has
not yet been determined.
Damon grew up in Fairmont, Minn. and graduated from high school in
1941. In 1942, she moved to Glendale, where she met her husband, Loyal
Damon Jr., while working in a local bank.
Her husband’s parents, Loyal and Mona Damon, opened Damon’s Steak
House in 1937. Donna Damon and her sister-in-law, Jennie Damon Aspin,
became co-owners and she began to handle the daily operations in 1979.
She worked actively in the restaurant until 1994.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Shirk; sister-in-law, Jennie
Aspin; and a niece and nephew. Her husband, Loyal Damon Jr., died before
her.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m. Friday in the Slumber Room of Forest Lawn Memorial Park,
Glendale. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wee Kirk O’ The
Heather, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale.
