On Campus at GCC

“The Prophets,” written by Slawomir Mrozek and presented by the

Glendale Community College Theatre Arts Department, opens Thursday night

in the Auditorium Studio Theatre.

Mrozek, a contemporary Polish playwright, is considered a master of

modern satire. His “The Prophets” is a biting send-up of mob politics in

which a prophet arrives -- only there are two of them.

Matt Foyer is the director. Translation is by Ralph Mannheim and

Teresa Dzieduszycka. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday

and on March 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27,

March 4 and 12.

Admission is $7 and $5 for students and seniors. The group rate is $3

each for 10 or more guests. Reserve tickets by calling 240-1000, ext.

5618. Reservations are strongly recommended. There will be no late

seating for this production.

The prophets are played by Salvatore Mucciolo of Burbank and Alexander

Ponce of Eagle Rock. The cast includes Kathleen Addcox as The Regent,

Mike Catherwood as Gaspar, Glendale resident and Glendale High grad R.B.

Dilanchian as Balthazar, Stacy Raposa as The Prima Donna and David

Simonson as Melchior. Guest artist Austin Grehan plays The Bailiff.

EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOP OPEN TO PUBLIC

“Preparing for the Classified Employment Process at Glendale College”

is a Staff Development-sponsored workshop scheduled for from 5 to 7 p.m.

Wednesday in San Rafael Room 112. Diane Fiero, GCC Human Resources

Analyst, will be the speaker.

There will be information on application and testing preparation and

interviewing skills. Admission is free and open to the public. To

CANDIDATE FORUM HELD ON CAMPUS

A candidate forum will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at GCC on Thursday

in Kreider Hall. It will include those running for local state Senate and

Assembly races. Dimitrios Sinodinos, president of the Associated

Students, will be the moderator.

The event is part of the Humanities/Social Science Lecture Series and

is sponsored by the GCC Guild and Associated Students.

NEW MUSIC PROFESSOR GIVES RECITAL

The GCC Music Department’s newest faculty member Peter Green will give

a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium. Admission is $5

and $3 for students and seniors. Green will perform works by Scarlatti,

Schumann, Rachmaninoff and others.

PATRONS CLUB HOLDS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER

The GCC Patrons Club and Shakers restaurant are raising funds for

student scholarships from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at the Glendale

restaurant.

Reservations are encouraged but not required. Call 246-4994. Inform

the host or hostess that you are participating in a Charity Night so that

the Patrons Club receives a percentage of the bill. Shakers is at 801 N.

Central.

CAMPUS CLOSED FOR HOLIDAY There will be no classes and offices will

be closed at GCC today for the Presidents Day holiday.
