GRANDVIEW -- The Kliewer family is something of an institution at
Grandview Presbyterian Church.
Senior pastor Lee Kliewer spent 12 years at the church, increasing the
membership roster and establishing a sanctuary.
His son, the Rev. Mark Kliewer, will return to the church June 18 and
lead the worship service for Father’s Day.
“Mark was only 9 months old when his Dad became minister,” Senior
Pastor Kenneth Reynen said. “He was the preacher’s kid, as we called
him.”
The elder Kliewer died in 1997.
Kliewer will lead the 10 a.m. service and the Sanctuary Choir,
Handbell Choir and Trumpet Trio will perform.
“The Kliewer’s were known for the music,” Reynen said. “We need to do
a lot with music, so we will.”
Reynen is expecting his 170 members to swell to 200 or more for the
observance. A cake and ice cream reception will follow.
“There will be people who will come back for the reunion because of
their connection with the Kliewers,” Reynen said. “Because it’s Father’s
Day, this is really appropriate.”
