Church offers touch of Broadway

LA CRESCENTA -- Local congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints are set to put on a Broadway Musical Revue this

weekend, performing some Great White Way favorites for the general

public.

Admission is free for the three performances, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

tonight, Friday and Saturday.

The performers are mostly children in the church’s summer youth

program, but congregants of all ages are participating as well. All

performers come from five of the sect’s local congregations, including

Sunland, Tujunga, Verdugo Hills, La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge.

From the La Crescenta area, performers are: Kate Moffat, Susie Riach,

Tujunga residents in the cast include: Bishop Ed Johnson his wife

Monica, and their sons Christian, Michael, Jacob and Spencer. Also

featured are Courtney Tompkins, Jolene Kaler, Kaley, Kyle and Canin

Craig, Crystal Curtis, Debbie Zacarias, Marsha Bigelow, Lila Wise, Matt

Cudney, Marcos and Ruth Opinaldo, Brett Wight and Astrid Opinaldo.

Joining them will be former Bishop Richard Allen and his wife Linda.

Participating from La Canada Flintridge will be Feline Mitchell, Becky

Mitchell, Crystal Wheeler, Angela, Nancy, Erica and Natasha Ovuoba,

Shauna and Todd Reynolds, Amanda Barth, Burnett and Nita Facer, Lisa and
