ROBERT G. STANGE
Robert G. Stange, 75, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at the Hospice
House of Monterey.
He was born in 1924 in Wisconsin, lived in La Canada Flintridge for 35
years and Pacific Grove for six years.
Stange served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the
retired owner of Division American in Glendale, and also an active
volunteer for Meals on Wheels, for which he received the Volunteer of the
Year Award in 1999.
A funeral Mass was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at St. James Episcopal
Church.
Stange is survived by his wife, Mary, of Pacific Grove; daughter,
Carol Montgomery of Laverne; son, Robbie Stange of Monterey; sister,
Joyce Rumacik of Wisconsin; and three grandchildren.
MRS. LUISA E. MONTANARO
Mrs. Luisa E. Montanaro, 77, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, in a
Glendale hospital.
Montanaro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1923. She lived in
Glendale for 21 years, and prior to retiring was an office clerk with
Citibank for 12 years.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 in Forest Lawn
Memorial Park, 1712 S. Glendale Ave.
Montanaro is survived by her husband, Onofrio.
CARROLL MOONEY “MARTY” MARTENSON
Carroll Mooney “Marty” Martenson, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000 in
Seattle.
Martenson was born in 1921 in Maynard, Minn. He served as a Navy radar
officer in World War II and later worked for Bell Aircraft/Textron for 23
years, during which time he served as president of hydrolic research in
Burbank.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Church of the Hill in
Forest Lawn Cemetary in Los Angeles.
Martenson is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Lisa; sons,
Aaron and Tom; brother, James; and four grandchildren. His son, Keith,
died before him in 1977.
Remembrances in Martenson’s name my be sent to the Museum of Flight,
where he was a founding director, at 9404 E. Marginal Way South, Seattle,
WA 98108.
JOHN RUSSELL HICKERSON
John Russell Hickerson, 84, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000.
Hickerson was born in 1916 in Louisiana, Miss. He lived in Glendale
for 52 years, was a pharmacist, an artist and a member of Masonic Lodge
368.
Burial services are at Noon today at First Glendale United Methodist
Church, located at 134 North Kenwood St.
Hickerson is survived by sister, Betty Jane Hemphill; brother, Joseph
Eugene; and two nieces, Gail Hemphill-Klouzal and Karen Hemphill.
