Mina - Briggs
Darlene Grace Mina and Gary Richard Briggs were recently married at La
Canada Presbyterian Church, where the groom and his family have been
longtime members. The Rev. Dr. Charles Osburn officiated.
A special duet titled, “From This Moment” by Shania Twain, was sung by
the sister of the groom, Nancy Briggs, and Tom Mesmer. A second song,
“How Beautiful” by Twila Paris, was performed by Melissa Manguiat, a
friend of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Fernando and Marlinda Mina of Sunland.
She graduated from Verdugo Hills High School. She attended the University
of Hawaii at Manoa, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in
biology.
She earned her teaching credential at Cal State Northridge and is
teaching second grade at Strathern Elementary School in North Hollywood.
The groom is the son of the late Richard Briggs and Eric and Terry
(Briggs) Hopf of Cerritos. He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School
and obtained his bachelor of science degree in biology from the
University of Hawaii. He is pursuing a career in the biotech field.
Eihleen (Mina) O’Brien, sister of the bride, served as the matron of
honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Manguiat, Shawneen Storlie and Jennie
Buchanan.
The best man was Sean Briggs, cousin of the groom. The ushers were Dan
Hoffman, Steve Larin and Scott McLane.
Aaron Borkovec, the son of Chris and Tracy (Briggs) Borkovec and
nephew of the groom, and the bride’s nephew, Jared Mina, served as ring
bearers. Cymbaline Briggs and Marissa Labayen were flower girls.
A dinner and dance reception was held at the La Canada Country Club.
The couple honeymooned in La Jolla. They are residing in Tujunga.
Vaughan - Newton Trish Vaughan of La Crescenta and Joey Newton of
Pasadena exchanged wedding vows at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley.
Pastor Mark Vaughan officiated.
A reception followed at the church.
Trish is the daughter of Jean Vaughan of La Crescenta and the late
Glenn Vaughan.
The bride is attending Pasadena City College Nursing School.
David is the son of Mary and Jim Newton of North Carolina. He is
employed at Warner Bros. Studios.
The matron of honor was Sharon Beck. The bridesmaids were Sarah
Beaudoin, Kim Newton, Alicia Oxenham, Sandy Pool, Erin Walsh, Heather
Westerman and Jenn Sunstrom.
The best men were Jamie Newton and Robert Manougian.
Groomsmen were Jeff Beck, Roger Beck, Jimmy King, Vince Paradiso,
Robert Perez and Gus Sanchez.
The couple honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, and are living in Saugus.
