Choir presents Christmas musical
LA CRESCENTA - The Sanctuary Choir of First Baptist Church at La
Crescenta will present a musical, “The Wonders of His Love” at 6 p.m.
Sunday at 4441 La Crescenta Ave.
The musical shares the message of Christmas with arrangements of old
and new carols, accompanied by a small ensemble of musicians.
The presentation will include a beautiful candle-lighting service, a
humorous drama and a narrative. The event is free and open to public. For

Members perform Christian musical
LA CRESCENTA - Youth and adults will perform the Christian musical, “A
Free Gift” at 8 p.m. Saturday at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902
Montrose Ave.
A free will offering will be taken at the door after the performance.
Child care is provided for children nursery through kindergarten.

‘Holy Comforter’ is sermon topic
GLENDALE - The Rev. Bonnie Rowsell will speak on “The Holy Comforter”
at the 10 a.m. Service Sunday at Glendale Church of Religious Science,
2146 E. Chevy Chase Drive.
Upcoming sermon topics will be “Forgiveness and Freedom” Sunday, Dec.
17, “Joy to the World” at the Christmas Celebration service Sunday, Dec.
24, and “New Beginnings” for the Sunday, Dec. 31 service.
There is a 15-minute meditation at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. Children’s
Church for children 5 through 12 is held at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Child
care is provided.

GLENDALE - A group of Anglicans are forming a new low church in
Glendale, under the guidance of St. George’s Anglican Church.

An evening to honor the season
LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE - Tad R. Callister, author and church leader,
will speak at a community fireside at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1830 Foothill Blvd. in La Canada.
The evening follows the theme, “The Reason for the Season.” A chorus
of local children will perform sacred Christmas carols. Janine Winn will
be the featured soloist.
Callister is now in the leadership of the North America West Area of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The community is invited to attend the free event. Separate activities
for children under 8 years old will be provided and light refreshments

Celebrating the second Sunday of Advent
LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE - The Rev. Charles G. Schepel will conduct
worship at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Church of the Lighted Window, 1200
Foothill Blvd.
Members of the Chancel Choir and organist Robert York will provide
music.
Church school classes also begin at 10 a.m., and child-careis
provided. Youth groups meet at 7 p.m. Sundays.
The Armadillo String Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Monday. The
ensemble will perform Haydn, Bartok, Schickele and Debussy Fields. The
concert is the first in this season’s “In Praise of Music” concert
series.
Schepel will also lead worship at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. The service
will include the church school Christmas Pageant and white gift offering.
Everyone is invited to bring a wrapped gift for a boy or a girl to
present at the end of the service.
Gifts will be donated to Elizabeth House, a shelter home for abandoned
women in crisis and their children.

Salem Lutheran groups perform
GLENDALE - The Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra of Salem Lutheran Church
will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at 1211 N. Brand Blvd.
The group will perform the music of Bach, Pachelbel and Telemann. A
reception will be held after the performance.

Sermon message is ‘True Vine’
LA CRESCENTA - Pastor John Peterson will teach from John 15:1-11 at
8:30 and 11 a.m. services Sunday at First Baptist Church at La Crescenta,
4441 La Crescenta Ave.
Peterson will deliver the message, “I AM - the True Vine.” The
Sanctuary Choir will sing at the early, traditional service, and the
worship band will play at the 11 a.m. contemporary service.
The choir will present “The Wonders of His Love,” a Christmas musical,
at 6 p.m. Sunday. The musical was written by Randy Vader and Jay Ropuse
and will include arrangements of old and new carols, accompanied by a
small ensemble of musicians.

‘How to be Blessed’ is topic
LA CRESCENTA - The Rev. Bill Schirmer will deliver the sermon, “How to
be Harmless and Blessed” at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at La Crescenta
Church of Religious Science, 4845 Dunsmore Ave.
Church school is offered for children 4 through teens, and brunch will
be served after the ceremony in Chaffee Hall.

Family Christmas concert planned
GLENDALE - “Come Rejoice” is a family-oriented Christmas concert to be
performed at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, 1101 N. Central Ave.
The program will offer a mix of traditional songs, sacred songs and
original music, performed by a 60-voice choir and instrumental soloists.
The Wilson Middle School Treble Choir will also perform. The free

Archeologist gives presentation
MONTROSE - Pastor John May will present “The King is Coming” at 10:45
a.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Montrose, 1911 W. Waltonia Drive.
Archeologist Richard Fales will give a visual presentation on Christ’s

Church has free child care
TUJUNGA - Community Christian Church of the Foothills is offering a
day of free child care from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10193
Tujunga Canyon Blvd.
Activities for children will include a bounce house, crafts, games,
videos, storytelling and singing. Lunch will be provided.
