GLENDALE -- Bail has been denied for a pediatrician convicted of
second-degree murder for killing a colleague who was also his lover.
The lawyer for Dr. Kevin Paul Anderson, 42, had asked that he be
released on $500,000 bail until sentencing March 8.
Anderson was convicted Dec. 4 of second-degree murder in the death of
Dr. Deepti Gupta. Anderson strangled Gupta, who was pregnant with his
child, and pushed her body over a cliff in the Angeles National Forest in
November 1999.
Anderson has been held without bail since being arrested on suspicion
of murder shortly after the incident.
