Man dies in jump from parking garage

SOUTHWEST GLENDALE -- A 51-year-old transient man apparently committed

suicide by jumping from a parking garage next to the county Department of

Public Social Services.

Joseph Klocki spent several hours inside the social services building

Thursday trying to get housing, but was denied, officials said.

“That was the last anyone saw of him,” Glendale Police spokesman Sgt.

Rick Young said.

Glendale Police were called to the driveway where Klocki fell, at 4680

San Fernando Road, at 5:20 p.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at 6

p.m. at Glendale Memorial Medical Center.

At the top level of the parking garage, police found three bags they

believe belonged to Klocki. Clothing, toiletries, books and papers were

inside, Young said.

When officials found Klocki, he had a note on him that listed a

relative to call, police said.
