NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- Glendale Police were searching Tuesday for
information about a stabbing in which a man allegedly attacked his victim
outside a restaurant and then chased him.
Masis Grigoryan, 42, was being held in a secure ward of a Los Angeles
hospital Tuesday after his arrest Sunday. Grigoryan suffered cuts to his
head after crashing his car in the 1100 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard,
then got out and stabbed Sedrak Avakyan several times, police said.
“We’re asking that anyone with information about witnesses or a motive
call police,” police spokesman Sgt. Bruce Fox said Tuesday.
There is no indication the two men knew each other, Fox said.
Avakyan remained at a Los Angeles hospital Tuesday in stable
condition, officials said.
Avakyan, also 42, was sitting at the Caravan Restaurant shortly after
noon Sunday when Grigoryan crashed his car into another man’s car, police
said. Grigoryan allegedly got out of his car, and after inspecting the
damage, yelled obscenities at Avakyan before stabbing him with a paring
knife.
Avakyan, who had been stabbed in the face and chest, ran east on
Glenoaks Boulevard but was followed by Grigoryan and stabbed again. The
Glendale man was stabbed a total of nine times, police said.
When Grigoryan saw officers after the attack, he allegedly threw the
knife -- which had a 3- or 4-inch blade -- under his car.
