CLARENCE C. JONES

Clarence C. Jones, 81, a longtime banker and resident of Glendale,

died Jan. 21, 2002, from complications following heart surgery.

Mr. Jones was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Kearney, Neb.

He entered the banking business at 16, and was a graduate of the

University of Omaha.

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Marine Air Corps as a

master technical sergeant in the South Pacific.

In 1948, he married Blanche Jirovsky. He moved to California in 1957

to continue his banking career.

Jones was one of the original officers of Valley National Bank in

Glendale, and retired as president and chairman of the board in 1990

after 30 years with the bank. During his career he also held the post of

president of the California Banker’s Assn.

He was a member of the Oakmont Country Club, and winning team member

of the 1985 Pirates and Bandits Tournament.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; sons, Robert and Richard;

daughter, Kathy Simon; and four grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bede’s

Church, 215 Foothill Blvd., La Canada Flintridge.

A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn, Glendale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clarence C. Jones’s name

to the City of Hope Cancer Center, 1500 E. Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010.

FLORENCE S. RICCHIAZZI

Florence S. Ricchiazzi, 89, a longtime Glendale resident, died Jan.

20, 2002, in a Glendale hospital.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y.

She is survived by her son, Philip N. Ricchiazzi; daughter, Angeline

M. Landano; brothers, Nicholas and Frank G. Ricchiazzi; sisters, Carmela

Siragusa, Antionette Distefano and Rosemary Mascari; 10 grandchildren;

and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her son, Frank, died before her.

Family and friends will gather from 4 to 9 p.m. tonight at Woods

Scovern Mortuary to visit and share memories, with an evening service at

7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at

Holy Family Church.

Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

JEANETTE T. BRITTON

Jeanette T. Britton, 94, a longtime Glendale resident, died Jan. 20,

2002.

She was a school teacher prior to retiring. She was active in the

American Assn. of Retired Persons and Incarnation Parish.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Tere

Britton; grandchildren, Robert Britton of South Pasadena, Michael Britton

of Denver, Antoinette Hammerberg and Dan Britton both of Colorado,

Patrick Britton of Santa Barbara and Anne Gora of Burbank; and four

great-granchildren.

Private services were held in Solvang.

Woods Scovern Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

DENCIE VIOLA CUSHING

Dencie Viola Cushing, 89, a longtime Glendale resident, died Jan. 12,

2002, in a Glendale convalescent hospital.

She was born in Hornellsville, N.Y.

She is survived by her husband, Stan; daughters, Susan of Sherman Oaks

and Darla of Reseda.

Private services were held.

Crippen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

ROSA ROSTAMIAN

Rosa Rostamian, 85, a longtime Glendale resident, died Jan. 17, 2002,

in a Glendale hospital.

She was born in Russia, and was a homemaker for 52 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayaneh Garebian of Glendale; and

sons, Rafie of Glendale, Rouben of Maryland and Souren of England.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at the Old North Church, Forest

Lawn, Hollywood Hills.

Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Hollywood Hills.
