VIOLET MARJORY SLIGHT
Violet Marjory Slight, 73, an Eagle Rock resident, died Feb. 1, 2002,
in a Glendale hospital.
She was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Glendale.
She graduated from Hoover High School. She was a homemaker and active
in her church.
She is survived by her children, Kurt and daughter-in-law Kathy,
Kenneth Slight, Kent and daughter-in-law Kathy, Kim and daughter-in-law
Rochelle, Kevin and daughter-in-law Cindy, Karen and son-in-law Craig
Wiseman, and Kathleen and son-in-law Brent Gnieting; mother, Marjory
Johnson; sisters, Ruth Barrowman, Joyce Cebulak and Grace Waller; 20
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon today at the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints, 1130 E. Wilson Ave.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Hollywood Hills.

CLARA LENA MILLER JAMES
Clara Lena Miller James, 94, a former Glendale resident, died Feb. 9,
2002, in Pasadena.
She was born Oct. 15, 1907, in Wheelersburg Ohio. In 1932, she moved
to California to marry her childhood sweetheart, William Frank James in
Burbank. They moved to Glendale, where she remained until her illness.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy A. Miller; brother, Henry L.
Miller; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three
step-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, daughter Helen Marietta Klopping, grandson and a
great-grandson died before her.
Graveside services were held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
MARTE A. JONES
Marte A. Jones, 58, a La Crescenta resident, died Feb. 2, 2002.
She was born May 1, 1943, in Jonesboro, Ark.
She attended school in Glendale, and was the owner of a party planning
business in La Crescenta for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Terry, a retired Glendale police
sergeant; children, Kim Stefanello of Palmdale and Dana Ventura of
Chatsworth; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Feb. 9.
