Kenneth Village merchants to meet
NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- The Kenneth Village Merchants Assn. will meet
from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at George’s Restaurant, 1418 W. Kenneth
Road.
The group will discuss its upcoming Road’ers Car event, street
improvements, election results, future plans for the village and
community policing efforts. The merchants association will also install
its new officers at the meeting.

Galleria to host guitar contest
DOWNTOWN -- The Glendale Galleria will host a Hot Licks contest April
13 at The Zone.
Stryker, a deejay from KROQ-FM (106.7) will ask participants between
12 and 19 years old to show off their guitar licks for the chance to win
a Gibson Flying V guitar.
The first 25 guitarists to arrive at 2 p.m. to The Zone can
participate in the competition. Contestants can bring their own guitar or
use a guitar provided by KROQ. Each contestant will have 90 seconds and
one amplifier.
In addition, KROQ will offer giveaways, including CDs from the movie
“Rock Star” and T-shirts, between 2 and 4 p.m.

United Way recognizes Nestle USA
NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- United Way’s Pacesetters Program, a
philanthropic program for the Los Angeles business community, has
recognized Glendale-based Nestle USA as one of its 12 fund-raising
front-runners.
The companies, which raised a combined total of $7.5 million for
United Way, made a commitment to increase their corporate, employee and
leadership support by 10% and complete their fund-raising efforts by Nov.
30, 2001.
Nestle USA was joined by 21st Century Insurance, Accenture, Andersen
Consulting Co., Bank of America, county of Los Angeles, Deloitte &
Touche, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Holland & Knight LLP, Nossaman, Guthner,
Knox & Elliott, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Transamerica and Valero in the
recognition.
