GLENDALE -- The Glendale High sports teams for girls and boys on all
levels were recently honored for their show of sportsmanship.
For the second consecutive year, the Nitros received the Pacific
League Sportsmanship award. The award is voted on by the athletic
directors and coaches of the six schools in the Pacific League --
Glendale, Hoover, Crescenta Valley, Pasadena, Muir and Arcadia.
Glendale baseball and football player Kevin Hickcox accepted the award
April 18 at Dodger Stadium, before a game against the San Diego Padres.
Winners from other leagues associated with the CIF Southern Section were
also honored.
“We’re proud of the fact that [the award] comes from the other people
in our league,” Glendale co-Athletic Director Bob Davidson said.
“We stress good sportsmanship to both our athletes and coaches. I feel
that’s a really important part of high school athletics.”
