Letter -- Frank Bunknell
Your criticism of the council members who showed up late to Mayor
Manoukian’s sudden meeting was way off base. You said it was a tough spot
for the mayor, when you should have berated him for calling a public
meeting that caused a ruckus on a matter already decided.
So what was the point of the meeting? For people to express their
concerns? What nonsense! So why should the council attend?
The News-Press report on the meeting stated that insults were hurled
at the mayor in Armenian. Now, to become a citizen, you have to be able
to speak English. So presumably, the shouters were not citizens, in which
case they have no standing in such matters. So they should have either
kept quiet or stayed away.
