GLENDALE -- Glendale Police arrested a man on suspicion of setting

fire to a car after its owner told him to stop living in his frontyard.

The victim told police that transients have started to live in his and

a neighbor’s frontyards on Verdugo Road, south of Dixon Street, according

to the police report.

The victim told a 49-year-old man to leave, and that he couldn’t keep

his belongings in an unlocked car in the victim’s driveway, police said.

The transient threatened to kill him and set his car on fire, police

said.

Shortly thereafter, at about 8 p.m. on Thursday, the victim looked out

his window and saw the white 1982 Mazda in flames, according to the

police report. Investigators believe the fire started in the car’s back

seats.
