IN LOVING TRIBUTE
About 100 police officers and city officials attended the site
dedication of the new Glendale Police Officer’s Memorial Tuesday. The
memorial will be on the east side of the new police headquarters, which
is under construction across Wilson Avenue from the current police
headquarters. The purpose of the memorial is to honor the four Glendale
Police officers who have died in the line of duty, and the ongoing police
work in the city. Last year in America, 158 police officers died while on
duty. Scheduled to open in May 2003, the memorial will feature a 9-foot
“heroic bronze” sculpture by artist H.L. Snowden. “It is only fitting we
pay tribute to their service with this world-class piece of art,” Mayor
Rafi Manoukian said.
