Dance Performance 2002 will be presented Tuesday through Sunday in the
Glendale Community College Dance Theatre.
Shows are at 8 p.m. Tuesday, noon and 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday,
11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is free and open to all except children younger than 5.
Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival
is advised.
The Dance Theatre is in the Sierra Nevada Gym. For more information,

The 30th annual dance performance features many dance styles including
jazz and ballet.
Students both perform and choreograph the dances as part of their
course work. Professor Lynn McMurrey is artistic director of the event.
Mark Knowles is the guest artist in residence. He has choreographed
more than 300 productions, including the South American premiere of “La
Cage Aux Folles” in Buenos Aires, Disney’s Electrical Parade in New York
City and recently choreographed the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.
He is the author of “The Tap Dance Dictionary” and “Tap Roots: The
Early History of Tap Dance.”
Students in the production from the Artist in Residence class, Ballet
Workshop and/or Jazz Workshop are Elen Abramian, Susana Acevedo, Pamela
Almeida, Tsukasa Aoki, Eliza Ashby, Jen Avant, Gloria Coronado, Katherine
Davis, Tiana DeBell, Annette Duran, Charity Fowler, Lelania Farrenkopf,
Zhanna Galafeyeva, Rocio Galdamez, Cherylann Gasso, Susanna Haratyunyan,
Antonella Hartel and Aya Homareda.
Others are Nadine Jahchan, Nonouk Khachatourians, Hwei Lin, Octavia
MacClain, Leanne Marshall, Rima Masri, Jocely Mercado, Sareh Mohoney,
Erma Morelli, Lisa Ohanian, Edgar Ovando, Robyn Roth, Ariel Sands,

Tamara Pinkston, Carlos Ramos, Jessica Rodriguez, Kari Rose, Jackie
Ryback, Brittany Schreiber, Sophie Sose, Robin Ward, Sarineh Yadegri,
Stephanie Zhao, and MelissaZohrabians.
DOZEN SHORT PLAYS PRESENTED AS FINAL PROJECT
“Dirty Dozen,” 12 plays, each 12 minutes or less, opens Thursday in
the GCC Auditorium Studio Theatre.
All directors and actors are students and the production is the final
project of the advanced acting/directing class. Some of the plays are
originals, written by GCC students. The 10-minute play format is gaining
popularity in academic settings as well as experimental professional
theaters.
Shows are at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and June 6, 7 and
8. There will be a 2 p.m. matinee on May 9. Reservations are strongly
recommended due to limited seating in the Studio Theatre. There is no
late seating.
Tickets are $7, $5 students and seniors and $3 each for groups of 10
or more. Due to some adult themes and language, the shows are not

SUBSTITUTES NEEDED IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT
The GCC human resources office is accepting applications for the child
development substitute pool. Positions are on an as-needed basis. There
is a minimum requirement of 12 completed units of early childhood
education.
