Three Glendale men and a Van Nuys man were arrested Friday after
allegedly being involved in an early morning stabbing near Burbank’s
Gitana restaurant that left two men injured.
Akop Tovmasyan, 20, Alexander Shakhnazaryan, 23, and Oleg
Azaryayev, 20 -- all from Glendale -- were arrested along with Arthur
Grigorian, 21, from Van Nuys, on suspicion of attacking a 39-year-old
Burbank man and a 30-year-old Los Angeles man.
The Burbank man was being treated Friday for stomach wounds in the
intensive care unit at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in
Mission Hills. The 30-year-old was treated at the scene for a cut on
his hand.
The incident occurred around midnight in the parking lot adjacent
to the club at 260 E. Magnolia Blvd.
“Apparently, there was some type of verbal disagreement that
escalated into a fight near the parking structure’s entrance,” Lt.
Tim Stehr said.
The fight involved about 10 people, Stehr said. When police
arrived, the group ran away while the two victims -- one bleeding
heavily from a stomach stab wound -- remained. Four of the suspects
were arrested as they fled.
A five-inch folding knife was found near the scene, Stehr said.
The incident did not appear to be gang-related, and Stehr knew of
no major criminal incidents at the club in the recent past.
In February, three women were arrested after getting into a brawl
at the restaurant.
The four suspects were being held Friday afternoon in Burbank City
Jail in lieu of $1 million bail. They are scheduled to be arraigned
Tuesday.
