Local fighters succeed at tourney

Hamlet Nalbandyan
The Bejanian Brothers World Class Training Center, based in
Glendale, had several of its students claim first-place trophies in
the International Martial Arts Championship on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1
in Las Vegas.
Gevo Khachadoorian and Edgar Vartanyan, both 11, made it to the
Grand Championship in continuous fighting, with Vartanian taking the
title, and 16-year-old Arno Isayan took first place both in kata and
fighting.
Khachadoorian was first in sparring and Vartanyan took top honors
in kata.
Gevork and Alex Zalyan, 8 and 9, respectively, took second and
third in fighting and Vrej Bejanian, 6, won second place in the kata
competition and took third in fighters.

* Anthony Quesada, second in kata.
* Andrik Karapetyan, third in sparring.
* Sipan Hagopyan, third in fighting and fourth in sparring.
* Meroujan Karapetyan, third in fighting.
* Lusine Arakelian, second in sparring.
* Ramon Nickfosian, fourth in fighting.
* David Bagumyan, fourth in sparring.
* Christopher Derhartounian, third in sparring.
