Christopher Oliver, son of Sue and Dennis Oliver of La Crescenta,
has received the rank of Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle Scout project, Oliver removed climbing holds on
climbing walls at Wilson Middle School. He cleaned the holds,
repainted the walls and replaced the holds.
As a member of Troop 176, he has earned the Order of the Arrow,
served as senior patrol leader for two terms and as troop guide. He
also attended the National Scout Jamboree in Virginia.
He attends Village Christian School, where he is a member of the
National Honor Society, and received special academic awards for
English, math and Spanish.
Aren James Knighton, son of Barbara and Jim Knighton of La
Crescenta, has received the rank of Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle Scout project, Knighton did the landscape clean-up,
filling three dumpsters with trash, clippings and plant refuse, then
planted ground cover and flower beds with the help of 25 volunteers
at Monte Vista Elementary School.
A member of Troop 319, he earned the Baden Powell Award, and
served as senior patrol leader, and attended two National Scout
Jamborees in Virginia.
He is a senior at Crescenta Valley High School, a member of the
Robotics Club and has received the Distinguished Student Award for
business.
Justin Watkins, the son of John and Jane Watkins of La Crescenta,
has received the rank of Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle Scout project, he provided 31 bicycles to children
living in foster-care homes. The project required him to collect old
bicycles and repair them to safe working order, and was able to
deliver 31 in time for the winter holiday season.
A member of Troop 391, he has been active in Cub Scouts and Boy
Scouts for 10 years. He attended Rosemont Middle School and graduated
from Crescenta Valley High School, at which he participated on the
junior varsity golf team and volunteered at Verdugo Hills Hospital.
He is employed at Integrated Digital Technologies, Corp., and is
attending Pasadena City College to pursue a career in computer
sciences.
