Peter and Mardi Breckheimer

Peter and Mardi Breckheimer, 37-year residents of La Canada

Flintridge, were honored on their 40th wedding anniversary with a

surprise party at Cal Tech’s Athenaeum, given by their children.

The couple were married Oct. 20, 1962 at the First Lutheran

Church in Glendale, followed by a reception at the Chevy Chase

Country Club.

Several guests attending the celebration were members of the

original wedding party, including Carol York, nee Sampson, originally

from Glendale; Melinda Stanton, nee Montgomery, from Glendale; and

Phil Oehler, formerly of Montrose, who attended Fremont Elementary

School with Peter.

Peter is a mathematician at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Mardi

is a dental hygienist.

Their children are Eric and Shannon Breckheimer of Glendale; Heidi

and Rick Houghton of Glendale; Julie and Gary Cann of Long Beach;

Peter Breckheimer and Holly Moore of San Diego; and Jennifer

Breckheimer, studying at the University of Michigan.

In addition to the anniversary celebration, the children arranged

a second honeymoon to Santa Fe, N.M., for their parents.

The couple have four grandchildren, Beatrice and Rosalind

Breckheimer and twins Hannah and Aaron Houghton.
