GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Glendale 16, Hoover 4: The Nitros continued their domination
against the Tornadoes since the two began playing in 1997.
With Wednesday’s Pacific League victory at Hoover High, Glendale
has won all 11 meetings against its archrival.
Leading the way this time was the duo of Elina Vartanyan and
Argine Kadymyan. The seniors scored four goals apiece.
Teni Kerimian added three goals, Ariga Hacopian finished with two
and Mary Lee, Crystal Lim and Cindy Ramos all scored for Glendale
(16-6, 4-1 in league).
Hoover (0-7, 0-5) was led by Anabel Ayvazian, who had two goals,
and goalkeeper Ruth Mejia, who finished with a match-best 18 saves.
Liliana Minassian and Anasheh Ghazarian also scored for Jennifer
Freemon’s squad.
Lernik Harabedian had five saves for Glendale, which played
without starting goalkeeper Sarineh Alexani, who is still nursing an
injured left hand.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 10, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 2:
Analiese DiConti scored both goals for the Tologs during Wednesday’s
Mission League loss at L.A. Valley College.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (1-13, 0-6 in league) received eight saves
from Jennifer Westhoff.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Flintridge Prep 53, Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep 17: The Rebels (13-5,
7-2 in Prep League) posted an easy home win Wednesday.
Katie Kimble led the way for Flintridge Prep, tallying 14 points,
14 rebounds and three blocks.
Shari Quan added 10 points and three assists, to go along with
three rebounds, and Kate Lawrence finished with seven points, 14
rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
BOYS’ SOCCER
La Canada 1, Blair 1: Brent Callister rallied the Spartans from a
1-0 second-half deficit, scoring in the 60th minute, but La Canada
wound up tying Wednesday’s Rio Hondo League match at home.
The Spartans are now 9-3-3, 4-1-2 in league. Blair is 6-5-3,
3-3-1.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
La Canada 81, Blair 57: Andrew Scott had 22 points and Billy
Hofman added 20 points and 10 assists for the Spartans, who hit 12
three-pointers -- eight in the third quarter -- in Wednesday’s Rio
Hondo League home win.
Philip Anderson had 13 points and five rebounds and Simon Coetzee
added 11 points for La Canada (18-5, 7-0 in league).
