MAJOR BASEBALL
Trotta Floor Covering 3, Glendale Police 1: Kyle Booth, who had a
double and two singles, led Trotta Floor Covering to its first
victory of the year. Cortland Real earned the win on the mound.
For the Glendale Police (2-4), Nicolas Taix, Karsen Reedy and
Bobby Coffin all had singles.
Glendale City Employees 5, High Temp Metals 3: Brandt Bowers
struck out 11 in a complete-game effort to earn the win. Travis
Feldman led the hitting with two doubles. Michael Breeden added two
singles.
Joe Primo, Colin Duplessis and Rich Maloof all had singles for the
Glendale City Employees (5 1/2-1 1/2).
For High Temp (3-4), Myles Neimeyer had two singles. Zack Torres,
Jason Cheung and Cole Kendall all had singles.
Glendale City Employees 8, Trotta Floor Covering 4: Matt Ashby and
Brandt Bowers had two hits apiece to lead the Glendale City Employees
(4 1/2-1 1/2). Joe Primo picked up the win on the mound. He also had
a triple.
Eric Jauffret, Travis Feldman and Michael Breeden all had singles.
For Trotta Floor Covering (0-5), Joey Sedano and Kyle Booth had
singles.
Landry’s Sporting Goods 6, High Temp Metals 3: Jacob Hoogenhuizen
went the distance to pick up the win. Keith Jackson led the hitting
with a double and a single. Hoogenhuizen, Ronnie Verna, Jake Lehne
and Kyle Cota all had singles for Landry’s Sporting Goods (6 1/2-1
1/2).
For High Temp (3-5), John Salas had three singles. Teammates Zack
Torres -- the son of Crescenta Valley High baseball Coach Phil Torres
-- and Ryan Eberhart -- whose dad, Alan, is the football coach at CV
-- had two singles apiece. Jeff Roberts also had a single.
Gangi Builders 2, Landry’s Sporting Goods 1: Kenny Dacher led
Gangi (5-2) with two singles in the seven-inning win. Carlo
Monasterio doubled, and Kevin Chase and Niko Horwith both had
singles.
For Landry’s (5 1/2-1 1/2), Keith Jackson, Jake Lehne, Troy
Mulcahey, Alvaro Coronado, Kyle Cota and Joey Torres all singled.
Glendale Police 8, Glendale Firemen’s Club 2: Karsen Reedy
garnered the win on the mound and had two singles.
Dick Taix had a double, and Bobby Coffin, Brandon Frost and Jack
Snyder all had singles.
For the Glendale Firemen’s Club (1-4), Mike Bako, Matt Miller and
Alex Tarankow all had singles.
High Temp Metals 9, Gangi Builders 0: Lonnie Kauppila struck out
11 to earn the win for the High Temp Metals (3-3). Kauppila and Jason
Cheung had a double and a single.
Myles Neimeyer, Cole Kendall and Trevor Boynton all doubled. Zack
Torres, John Salas and Mac Musso all singled.
For Gangi (4-2), Kevin Chase had a double and a single. Anthony
Tellache had two singles, and Carlo Monasterio and Niko Horwith added
a single apiece.
JUNIOR BASEBALL
Shakey’s Pizza 12, Stars 1: Shakey’s Pizza improved to 5-1
Saturday at Stengel Field. Charlie Carluccio was the winning pitcher,
throwing four scoreless innings. Danny Huddleston had two of Shakey’s
Pizza’s eight eights.
Danny Stickar and Joshua Lee scored three runs apiece. Daniel Oh
drove in three runs.
Stars starting pitcher Jeff Astor had one of his team’s two hits
and scored its only run.
Shakey’s Pizza 20, Angels 4: Shakey’s Pizza’s starting pitchers
Phillip Moses and Parker Haleen combined to pitch a no-hitter at
Scholl Canyon. Charles Carluccio, Haleen, Danny Huddleston and Moses
all doubled.
Mike Brunson had the Angels’ one hit.

MAJOR BASEBALL
Dyrness Automotive 5, Sport Chalet 1: Dyrness Automotive remained
undefeated after Saturday’s win at Babe Herman Field. Harry Rose hit
a base-clearing double to give Dyrness the lead.
Barry Emrey, Connor McCann, Joseph Hanna, Kevin Nooran and Cameron
Doran all hit for Sport Chalet. Greg Astor recorded the win on the
mound.
Dyrness Automotive 3, Auto Body 1: Greg Astor notched the win
Thursday at Babe Herman Field. Hayden Picker and Teddy Rothenberg had
hits for Dyrness.

BRONCO BASEBALL
LaBruna Industries 4, CV Tow 1: Nicki Gentilli struck out six in
six-plus innings. A.J. LaBruna struck out four in two innings.
Tyler Delzell had three strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. Closer
Jonathan Marsh finished the game.
LaBruna Industries 9, GI Mike 4: Doug Drugan’s single to start the
game set the tone of the contest. A.J. LaBruna and A.J. Kim, who
combined for four hits and four runs batted in, provided the
offensive power.
Nicki Gentilli, Tyler Delzell and Jonathan Marsh had outstanding
performances on the mound.
LaBruna Industries 8, Trophy Shoppe 2: A single by Doug Drugan,
who went two for three, sparked the offensive attack. A.J. LaBruna
went two for three with four runs batted in. Nicki Gentilli went one
for three with two runs batted in.
A.J. Kim went two for two with two runs batted in. Tyler Delzell,
Gentilli, LaBruna and Jonathan Marsh combined to limit Trophy Shoppe
to only three hits. Wesley Klotthor contributed an outstanding catch.
Trophy Shoppe 8, BWA Mortgage 7: Daniel Park and Steven Orozco
both hit a home run, and Daniel Stubblefield and Mario Casillas added
doubles. Matt Magallon also had a single.
Park, Andrew Davis and Magallon combined for 11 strikeouts.
Guarantee Pest 7, BWA Mortgage 2: Andrew Davis and Matt Magallon
had four strikeouts apiece. Daniel Park contributed a run-scoring
double.
Steven Orozco and Anthony Yamarone were able to use their
baserunning skills after reaching base on walks.
BWA Mortgage 11, Lugnuts 7: Daniel Park (two strikeouts) and Matt
Magallon (six) did well on the mound. They also combined with Andrew
Davis to score six runs.
Daniel Stubblefield went two for two with two runs. Mario Casillas
put in a good effort behind the plate. Josh Wyman caught a fly ball
to end the game.
BWA Mortgage 12, MJB Flooring 10: Steven Orozco led the offense
with an awesome triple to deep right-center field. Natalie Honda had
an unassisted double play to end the inning and stop a rally. Anthony
Yamarone did a great job behind the plate and threw out a runner at
third.
Corey Parrish made the play of the game by throwing out the
potential winning run at first base from his right-field position.
Daniel Park struck out three in four innings. Andrew Davis also
struck out three.
MUSTANG BASEBALL
CV Koi 13, Bonner’s Equipment Rental 7: CV Koi broke open the game
with a six-run fourth inning. William Oh held CV Koi to only one run
in the first two innings and recorded six strikeouts.
He also had a single. For CV Koi, Mikey Polchow and Dylan McGovern
had two singles apiece.
Bobby Becerra and Kyle Gustafson also had singles. Andy Galbraith
added a double.
In three innings of work, Polchow struck out eight. Galbraith
fanned five in two innings.
Victory Urgent Care 14, CV Koi 6: Matt Nunez hit a home run and a
triple for Victory Urgent. Brandon Van Horn, Connor Frederick and
Eric Lee all had doubles. Dillon Reinwald also had a single.
Van Horn recorded five strikeouts in two innings. Frederick fanned
three in two innings.
For CV Koi, Mikey Polchow had eight strikeouts in two innings.
Ryan Comstock and Kyle Gustafson had a single apiece.
PINTO BASEBALL
Clutch Masters 8, Sardo Interiors 5: For Sardo Interiors, Mark
Verso pitched two excellent innings, recording five strikeouts. He
also hit a home run and had a double.
David Lamb Jr. scored two runs.
Solis Law 2, Sardo Interiors 3: For Solis Law, Luke Baumgartner
hit a home run and Jeremy de Kruyf had a base hit.
Beatrice Harendza Real Estate Broker 8, Guaranteed Pest Control 4:
Matt Jones hit a home run and had a double for Beatrice Harendza Real
Estate Broker. He also drove in three runs.
Joe Torres hit a triple and drove in two runs. Ryan Powell had two
hits and two runs batted in.
MAJOR SOFTBALL
Parkview Pet Clinic 23, Sanfilippo 7: Parkview was led by the
dominating pitching of Baillie Kirker, who struck out 12. She also
tossed a two-hitter.
Kirker also went four for five with six runs batted in to lead the
offense. Shannon Anderson, Sissy Sovereign, Kylie Mulligan, Whitney
Cowell, Jacky Springer, Hana Bract and Emma Vine all had hits for
Parkview.
Parkview’s defense was led by Sofie Munoz, Jessenia Lopez, Jessica
Ferrara and Michelle Deunay.
Parkview Pet Clinic 26, Dinah’s 6: Baillie Kirker pitched a
no-hitter through three innings and Sissy Sovereign tossed the final
three innings.
Parkview’s offense was led by Jessica Ferrara and Sofie Munoz.
They combined for seven hits.
Kirker, Shannon Adelman, Sovereign, Jacky Springer, Emma Vine,
Michelle Deunay and Whitney Cowell also had multiple hit games.
Parkview (6-0) has sent 92 batters to the plate in the past two
games and struck out just once.
12-AND-UNDER SOFTBALL
Dynamite 9, Warren Printing 4: Robyn Tiffany went two for two with
a home run and two runs batted in for Warren Printing. Caitlin
Deering had a strong performance in the circle, allowing only four
hits.
Warren Printing 13, P.E.G. 13: For Warren Printing, Caitlin
Deering tossed four innings, allowing four hits and striking out
seven. She was also three for three and scored two runs.
10-AND-UNDER
Angels 8, Harris Plumbing 6: Kellsey Butler pitched three
scoreless innings, striking out nine consecutive batters for the
Angels. Butler also had a single, double and triple.
Pearle Lun drove in her first run of the year and Taylor Anderson
pitched well in her late-inning debut.
Sparks 13, Kiwanis 12: Alexa Sasmita scored three runs for the
Sparks. Kristina Gustovich added two hits. Kelsey Knapp also had two
hits.
Knapp also scored two runs.
Sparks 13, Mobile Storage 11: Kelsey Crowther had a hit, scored
two runs and had a big outfield assist for the Sparks. Teammate
Mackenzie Hobby added two hits.
Megan Siepler scored two runs for Mobile Storage.
Angels 7, Mobile Storage 3: Savannah Rhoads led the Angels with
two runs. Olivia Taylor drove in a run with a third-inning single.
8-AND-UNDER
Jerez Mortgage 15, Montrose Travel 8: The “Black Belts” came away
with an impressive win against the “Red Hot Flaming Rockets.”
High Temp 21, Dilbeck 12: The “Golden Gladiators” received plenty
of offensive support in their win against the “Dirt Dogs.”

SENIOR SOFTBALL
El Cholo 9, Clerkin Architects 3: El Cholo demonstrated fine
teamwork in its first game of the season. Pitcher Rachel Tobias fared
well in the circle.
Lydia Kay played well behind the plate and Rachel Anderson showed
a strong arm from third base.
Olivia Smith hit a home run and drove in two runs. Frances Wulke
and Annie Bujko had a hit apiece.
Hennon Surveying & Mapping Inc. 6, Burlison & Luostari 5: Burlison
took an early 3-0 lead. The Surveyors rallied to take a 4-3
advantage, which was capped by a home run from Laura McQuay.
Taylor Segal scored the winning run. Jessica Ferri pitched well
for the Surveyors. Emily Erskine and Anna Applebaum were strong
behind the plate.
Erin Loadvine made the catch of the game with a late-inning grab
at shortstop.
Cecil Saydah 8, Cushman and Wakefield 4: Behind the strong
pitching of Kelly Streeter and catching of Stephanie McNamara, Cecil
Saydah took an early lead. Kelly Horner and Emily Fueling had hits in
the early going.
The team was aggressive at the plate. Emily Filippone had two huge
hits and Kaitlin Fuelling also had a hit.
Whitney Crossley made the defense play of the game with a catch in
deep center field.
Karlee Cordova struck out eight for Cushman and Wakefield. Abby
Ulf held her own behind the plate. Cushman and Wakefield made a
valiant comeback on hits by Lauren Michie, Olivia Tucker and Alexis
Noyes. But a line drive by Cordova with the bases loaded was snagged
by Streeter to end the game.
California Girls 8, Sanfilippo 1: Jade Stenzel pitched well for
Sanfilippo.
Sofia Portantino had two hits and Colleen Boyd hit a hard-driving
single.
Las Muchachas 6, Hennon Surveying & Mapping Inc. 5: Rachel Tobias
and Lydia Kay played well for the Las Muchachas. Tobias also had a
double.
Olivia Smith also had a hit. Lexie Malchione scored a much-needed
run.
California Girls 11, Burlison & Luostari 6: Brittany Johnson
started the bottom of the first inning with a perfect drag bunt and
stole three bases to set the tone for the California Girls.
Angela Sarkissian hit a triple to boost the offense. Jane Coleman
and Ashley Hause also played well. Mandy Herrmann and Kylie Mulligan
did well in the circle.
Sophia Kennelly and Sarah Evans provided strong hits for Burlison.
Lauren Johnson pitched well and Allisa Meeks gave it her all behind
the plate.
JUNIOR SOFTBALL
Muller Commercial Masonry 7, Campbells Superstars 7: The
Superstars trailed, 7-0, after the first inning and rallied to tie
the game. Alex Antonoplis pitched three scoreless innings.
Lauren O’Leary and Greer Gibbons had two hits apiece. Greer’s
bases-loaded double in the fourth tied the game.
Locker Realty Green Beans 15, Descanso Dermatology 14: With two
outs in the bottom of the third, Kristine Locker hit a hard grounder
to second base to score two runs. Emily Villalpando did an
outstanding job at pitcher and hit a grand slam in the first.
Maddy Morey did a great job for her team at second base and hit
well. Olivia Warner made some great plays at first base and had
several good hits.
For Descanso Dermatology, Kate Brown came in as a relief pitcher
and did a terrific job. Jelena Tasic and Brittany Docherty hit home
runs.
Muller Commercial Masonry 10, SWR Sound Pepsies 7: The Pepsies
battled back from a five-run deficit, but came up just short.
Elizabeth Weinberger led the Pepsies’ offensive attack with a grand
slam.
Alicia Dewell hit a run-scoring double. Kirsten Dahlson also had a
single that drove in a run.
Katherine Ring and Weinberger made stellar defensive plays.
A Noise Within American Kryptonite 14, Campbells Superstars 10:
Alex Antonoplis pitched three scoreless innings and struck out nine.
Lauren O’Leary, Melissa Pittson, Rita Neat, Meg Seibly and Antonoplis
had two hits apiece.
INTERLEAGUE SOFTBALL
Shakey’s Pizza 6, Fierce Coyotes 3: Jennifer Nelson hit a
bases-loaded single to drive in two runs for Shakey’s Pizza.
Cailey Sembrano and Kylie Morales also recorded hits.
Shakey’s Pizza 4, Black Widows 4: Abby Patterson scored the tying
run for Shakey’s Pizza in the sixth inning.
Katie Powers and Patterson had the only hits of the game.
TEE-BALL SOFTBALL
Taylor Hill went three for three and made her first unassisted
double play for the Heating and Cooling Tee-Ball squad Sunday at
Crescenta Valley High.
Hannah and Hailey Cookson made some great plays in the infield.
They also combined for seven hits.
Danielle Espinosa, Melanie Henson and Megan Bosveld all
contributed to their team’s hitting. Kaitlyn Arriola, Claire Mencia,
Sydney Potrykus, Amy Smith, Simone Dupuy and Kendal Huerkins all
played exceptionally well. They also hit very well.
The team combined for 31 hits.
BASKETBALL
Panthers win two of three: The Glendale Panther 13-year-old boys’
basketball team won two of three pool-play games during the weekend
in the Airtime Tournament of Champions in Santa Maria.
Glendale defeated the Five Cities Lakers team, 31-26, in its first
game. Then it lost to a bigger San Luis Obispo squad, 42-40, before
defeating Long Beach, 33-31.
The Panthers didn’t advance to the championship round of the
tournament.
In the win against the Five Cities, the Panthers allowed only
seven second-half points. Raymond Beginyan led the Panthers with
eight points, nine rebounds and two steals.
Against San Luis Obispo, the Panthers led at halftime, but they
couldn’t hold onto their advantage against a squad that had four
players that were 6-foot-3 or taller.
Glendale’s Rafael Gallegos had a team-high 12 points and six
rebounds.
In their third game, the Panthers rallied from a three-point
deficit in the final two minutes. Beginyan had 11 points and seven
rebounds. Neil DeJesus added six points and two steals.
Bryan Aghakhani contributed four points, six rebounds and three
assists.
