Man accused of molesting girl

A Sherman Oaks man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old

Glendale girl, officials said.

Jason Michael Handy, 28, was arrested April 12 at his home by Los

Angeles Police officers from the Van Nuys division on suspicion of

committing a lewd act with a child younger than 14. Handy is

suspected of kissing and touching the girl three years ago in

Glendale, according to a news release.

Handy posted bail, but was arrested again Wednesday on a no-bail

felony warrant from Michigan, the release said.

Based on information from Michigan investigators, the LAPD’s

Sexually Exploited Child Unit began to investigate Handy in January.

Investigators found Handy was targeting children at his church, in

his neighborhood and over the Internet, the release said. He was also

trying to use his connections in the entertainment industry, in which

he is employed, to contact children.

The ongoing investigation has identified victims in Los Angeles,

Michigan and North Carolina, the release said.

Detectives believe there are additional victims who have not come

forward, the release said.
