Richard Verdugo of Fresno contacted me a couple of weeks ago to ask

when the Days of Verdugo parade would be. He wanted to get a group of

relatives together and come down for the event. I made a couple of

calls and came up with the sad news that the parade would not be held

this year. However, I told him, there are other Days of Verdugo

festivities planned.

The Days Of Verdugo Heritage Assn. will bring out the margaritas

and mariachis for a Fiestecita at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Mexican food,

provided by Acapulco, Barragan’s, Chevys, Chuy’s, Joselito’s and

Porto’s, is included in the $20 per person ticket price. Proceeds

will fund the Verdugo Adobe museum on Bonita Drive. For more

information, call 244-2841.

Also, the ever-popular Days of Verdugo carnival will take place at

Verdugo Park on Sept. 19 to 21 at 1621 Canada Blvd. One annual event,

the Glendale Beautiful celebration, took place at the Casa Adobe on

Friday night.
