Handbags stolen from Macy’s for third time
GLENDALE GALLERIA -- More than $1,000 in designer handbags were
stolen from Macy’s, the second such incident in two days.
Loss prevention agents at Macy’s, at 201 S. Central Ave., reported
Monday a man came in to the department store, grabbed eight Dooney &
Burke purses worth $1,200 and ran to a car with its engine running,
according to a police report. On Sunday, a similar incident occurred,
in which a man grabbed $790 worth of designer handbags and drove away
in a black sedan, police said.
It was at least the third such incident to happen at a Macy’s
store in a month. A similar theft occurred at the department store’s
South Coast Plaza location April 16.
It was not known Thursday whether each incident involved the same
thief.

Suspected cigarette snatchers sought
SOUTHWEST GLENDALE -- Glendale Police were on the lookout
Wednesday for the burglar who allegedly followed a man from Costco in
Los Angeles and stole several cartons of cigarettes he locked in his
car.
The Los Angeles man reported Friday he bought $1,649 worth of
cigarettes from Costco and drove to the Bank of America branch at
3812 San Fernando Road.
The man went into the bank and returned to find his car’s rear
window smashed in and the cigarettes gone, police said.

Alleged eyeglass burglar sought by police
SOUTHEAST GLENDALE -- Glendale Police were searching Wednesday for
burglars who broke into a Glendale woman’s trunk and stole three bags
of eyeglasses, worth $50,000.
The woman reported Friday she put the three black bags, each
containing 576 frames, in her trunk and went to her uncle’s apartment
in the 1100 block of East Maple Street. The woman, who sells
eyeglasses, returned to her car to find the trunk open and the bags
gone, police said.
