Agustin Lara back by popular demand at Bilingual Foundation

Back by popular demand, the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts is proud to announce the return of the Agustin Lara tribute titled “You Belong to My Heart” -Agustin Lara (“Solamente Una Vez” -Agustin Lara).

This celebration of Lara’s life and music highlights one of the most popular Mexican composers in the history of popular music. Lara created more than 600 compositions during his career and gained an international reputation. “You Belong to My Heart” -is scheduled to perform for three weeks from May 13 to May 30 in Spanish only.

Director Margarita Galban has selected a cast of local talents headed by Ernesto Miyares (in the role of Agustin Lara) and enhanced by the participation of Gabriela Crowe as Georgina Granados, Angela Estrada as Tofia La Negra, Alberto (Kiko) Mahetcha plays the role of Pedro Vargas, Rosella Arvizu interprets Amparo Montes, Maria Helena Kraul-Rodriguez in the role of La Doha (Maria Felix). Rachel Garcia, Michelle Gil, Jessica Kaiserman, Lina Montalvo, Dino Castro and Alexandro Danko Sieth frame this magnificent tribute performing a multitude of different characters that, in real life became, Lara’s constant loud, colorful, talented, famous and fabulous companions.

The production will be presented at the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts Theatre, located at 421 N. Ave. 19 in Lincoln Heights.

The shows will be from Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The general admission ticket price is $27.
