A 29-year-old Glendale man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of
lewd conduct, sexual battery and resisting arrest after allegedly
grabbing a plainclothes Glendale Police officer.
The arrest was the latest one as Glendale Police officers
conducted periodic surveillance on a restroom near the boys’ clothing
department of JCPenney, at 333 W. Colorado St., Glendale Police Sgt.
Sue Hodgman said.
Officers from the department’s Galleria substation had been doing
the surveillance for the past three weeks, she said.
On June 3, two Los Angeles men, 39 and 67, were also arrested on
suspicion of lewd conduct in the same bathroom. The bathroom is
believed to be known as a meeting place for men to commit lewd acts,
police said.
JCPenney security officials declined to comment and the department
store’s manager could not be reached for comment.
