Festival helps put Montrose on display and Glendale on the map

I am so pleased that my community newspaper has a section in which I

can express my views about things around town, such as the Arts &

Crafts Festival in Montrose (June 5-6).

There is simply no single event in the city that seems as big or

as well-run or as all-encompassing of the many interests of Glendale

residents as this annual show.

This only goes to demonstrate how well Glendale as a whole is

shown off by the actions of the terrific group runnings of the

Montrose Shopping Park. They should be very proud, and we, as

Glendale citizens, should be proud of them.

I am all for the new Americana at Brand, but shouldn’t the city be

investing more in areas like Montrose that already exist and already

have a following based on years of tradition?

Lastly, as a north Glendale resident of many years standing, I

sincerely hope that the Chamber of Commerce sits up and takes notice

of how well the Montrose Shopping Park Assn. does with these

festivals. The chamber’s Oktoberfest, by contrast, could be a

blessing or a bust for our community, all depending upon whether the

chamber has cleaned up its act and learned any lessons from the mess

they made out of Montrose last year.

To the Montrose Shopping Park Assn., you are a terrific example of

how such events can make us all look good. Thanks for another

wonderful Arts & Crafts Festival and for setting the standard of

excellence so high.
