Judge postpones bank robbery suspect’s hearing
The arraignment for a woman accused of robbing a Bank of America was
postponed Monday.
Norma Martus, 50, of Echo Park, will face armed robbery charges
Aug. 17 in Burbank Superior Court.
Martus walked into the bank at 3812 San Fernando Road and
allegedly robbed the teller by claiming to carry a bomb inside her
gift bag, police said. She left the bank in her own car, and a
Glendale Police helicopter followed her to her home, police said.
The bomb decoy she left in the bank was an empty blue box inside
the bag, police said.
Martus was being held in Glendale City Jail, and does not qualify
for bail because she was on parole, authorities said.
